Talofa lava! Growing up, I often found myself acting as a "medical translator" for my parents, helping them navigate the complexities of healthcare in a new cultural context. This early role sparked my interest in the relationship between culture and biomedicine. My career as a combat medic in the Army further deepened this passion. Now, as an undergraduate student aspiring to become a physician, I'm dedicated to understanding how cultural nuances influence healthcare disparities, especially within the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community.
